Nice and comfortable venue , food quality is okay , I have not tried many Indian restaurants to compare but it was good quality , not cheap and average portion of food , it was good to try ad a different experience .
We had an absolutely incredible dinner at Mumtaaz recently on very special occasion. The moment we step in we realise this place is nothing less than any other fine dining Indian restaurant in Melbourne. All the starters and Main course that we ordered were cooked to perfection, flavours were incredible and visually stunning. Whether it was something from chat corner, tandoori items or authentic curries there is something to satisfy everyone’s taste buds. Their staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, making excellent recommendations. The overall ambiance was warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot for any occasion. We will definitely be back soon!" Note: If you love wine, ask the staff for perfect food and wine pairing. They will suggest the best from their collection.
I had a great experience at Mumtaz Indian Restaurant today. Chef Jiya is an amazing woman who serves you with utmost love and respect. All the delicacies were scrumptious. I highly recommend this place for lunch. Ms. Jiya, thanks for the delicious food ♥️
It’s my parents first time trying Indian food. Thanks for the great service, and the food tastes great!
They put the holding on the front mirror best indian rest, but i think they are worst ind rest bcz specialy for their service. This is my second time order the food from them, my first experience was realy bad but as a new of them i give them another chance for just small takeaway 2 curries & half tandoori chicken last night. I placed a order 8:25 pm on the phone & they said to me 30 mins. I went there to pickup my food around 9:10 pm.food was not ready. Then lady cameout give me excuse we give your food to someone else.both times same lady cameout & gave me the different excuse. Also she said she is the Headchef here. But very strange headchef serving on the tables, taking a payments pickup dishes from the tables🤔🤔i picked up my food around 9:30.i will never go back.also i am going to upload a receipt of the food, might they can say its fake order.
Amazing food and ambience. All the curries were very delicious. The service was quick and everything was fresh. Worth a try. Highly recommended
We recently dined at Mumtaaz Indian bistro and it was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we stepped in, the warm and inviting ambiance set the tone for an authentic Indian experience. The menu is a treasure trove of traditional Indian flavors, with something to satisfy every palate. What truly stood out was the attention to detail in the flavors. Each dish had a depth and complexity that showcased the chef’s expertise in blending spices. The service was impeccable—friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about sharing their culture through food.
Our first visit under new owners and we were nervous the high food standards of the previous owners may not have been maintained. We needn't have worried as the food was on par or even better than before. Improvements have also been made to the decor, however the paper tablecloth coverings seemed to dampen the experience, although the need was understandable. Table service was prompt, the food was prepared pleasantly quickly (but not worrying so), and prices were reasonable. The butter chicken was delicious, as was our lamb and chicken dish. We'll be back. Well done to the new establishment and we wish you well.
The prices were far too high for food that didn’t impress. The Tandoori platter for the entrée was decent, but the rest of the meal was underwhelming. The lamb biryani lacked any real flavor, and the pistachio kulfi had way too much mint essence. The naan was tiny and thin for the price they charged, and the mango lassi was a small, tasteless portion compared to other Indian restaurants. The service was lacking, too. The servers weren’t attentive, and we were only given a minimal amount of warm water. When we asked for takeaway containers, we were told there would be a $1 charge per container—after we’d already put the food inside. To spend over $150 and then be asked for an extra $2 felt ridiculous. It was a Saturday night, and we were rushed out by 9:15pm. Overall, the experience was disappointing, and we won’t be returning.
