Customer FeedbackOur first visit under new owners and we were nervous the high food standards of the previous owners may not have been maintained. We needn't have worried as the food was on par or even better than before. Improvements have also been made to the decor, however the paper tablecloth coverings seemed to dampen the experience, although the need was understandable. Table service was prompt, the food was prepared pleasantly quickly (but not worrying so), and prices were reasonable. The butter chicken was delicious, as was our lamb and chicken dish. We'll be back. Well done to the new establishment and we wish you well.

Went there with young kids and asked for spices to be mild and they actually made it mild (unlike some other places where mild is still too hot!). Tried 3 different dishes (vegie and chicken) all tasted great. Only downside was cleanliness wasn’t the best. (Stained napkins, glass not super clean etc. especially since the food wasn’t really cheap, expected more attention to detail)

Anil Gyawali𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐲 Usually I don't write reviews for restaurant food even if they don't meet my expectations. But I thought that I needed to write a review for the food that I bought from Mumtaaz Indian Bistro, Surrey Hills. This was the 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 we ever had from a restaurant in the past 17 years after we moved to Melbourne. The meat and the rice in the biryani was not even cooked properly and the Dal Makhani seemed to be boiled Dal with Onion. We spent around $127 (bill attached) and couldn't even finish the food. We tried to return the unfinished food back to the restaurant and requested to meet the Manager or the Owner but instead the lady staff brought the cook to talk to us. Restaurants like these put the wrong message out and people might think this is what Indian food tastes like. My request to the hotel staff is to please check your food before you serve them to your customers.
